Whats New At Little Moonbeams?

 Diary

21st July 2008 - We completed on the purchase of the building today and we are so excited now! The builders start tomorrow and we also begin interviewing, here's hoping for good progress.

23rd July 2008 - The builders have ripped out the toilets today as well as the walls and floor in the office. There is rather a lot of mess and dust but it feels good to know that we are well under way now.

29th July 2008 - We have now decided that the children's toilets will be better placed where the kitchen is currently located so most of the old kitchen was removed today and the children's toilets will be arriving tomorrow.
7th August 2008 - Things are really moving on inside the building and the children's toilets and wash hand basins are all in place with the new kitchen due to be delivered on 1st September. Our cook is very excited about test driving her new 'Range' oven and I am looking forward to testing out the food!
The electricians are doing a fine job and the re-pointing and new flat roofs are making such a difference to the look of the building.
8th August 2008 - Our project manager, Gary, has now agreed to an opening date of Monday 6th October!! All of the staff are in place now and I believe we have a fantastic team coming on board! They will be starting on Monday 29th September and during this week they will be getting to know each other, setting up their rooms and meeting the families that will be joining us. Exciting times are ahead!
20th August 2008 - I just can't believe how much is changing every day! The mud and mess is shocking but it looks great! The dividing wall is now in the main hall, the carpenter, electricians and plumbers have been working wonders and now that the ground workers are in the mud is everywhere but it looks like we will have a lovely space for a  play area rather than just a large steep hill!  21st September 2008 - The pressure is now on! We open to the children in under two weeks and the only rooms ready at the moment are the office and the staff room! The blue paint in the hall is taking some covering and there seems to be lots of little jobs left to be done!? The hard standing play area is almost finished as it the new fence, we don't have any grass yet but it is on its way. The pirate's galleon has arrived at home...in 3 boxes... so my husband knows what he will be doing next weekend! The deliveries of furniture and toys are coming in thick and fast and we have entered the world of 'flat pack hell' Thank goodness for Dad!

 28th September 2008
It is SO exciting!!!! The staff start tomorrow and it is all really coming together now. The railings for the play area go in on Wednesday and the turf goes down on Thursday. The painting has finished inside and the floors have been cleaned.  The wooden furniture looks lovely and the children's toilets look so sweet (as much as a toilet can!) My husband and Dad still have a lot of 'putting together' to do over the new few days but we got lots done with the help of volunteers today. 7 days and counting!!

2nd October 2008 - I now have a very clear understanding of the word 'stress'! The rooms are looking great and the girls are proving to be a lovely team, I just hadn't quite banked on the builders, electricians and landscaper of STILL being part of the 'team' as well! They all assure be that they should be finished by this Sunday.....we will see.
6th October 2008 - Well, we have made it!! We finally opened our doors to the children for the first time today and it seems to have gone very well! Not every thing works and not everything has been delivered, but on the whole it was a good start and I look forward to making it even better.  The tuna pasta dinner was lovely thanks to Lorraine and although the children couldn't go onto the new grass they all enjoyed the bikes and outdoor toys. Last night I kept dreaming about the staff forgetting to bring their 'indoor shoes', I wonder what is in store for me tonight!!??
